This bell's decoration is made in the Champlevé style: the brass bell has troughs or pits carved into it to create the forms for the enameling to fill, and creating the edges where the brass shows above the enamel. It is entirely hand crafted using traditional porcelain enamel fired over the solid brass form. Because this is hand applied and hand fired, the flow of the enamel while it was molten is visible over the bell.
The solid brass is uncoated, allowing em to gain a beautiful antique patina over time. If this natural antiquing isn't wanted, it can easily be removed by a quick polish. This set is hand-crafted, please expect some variation and slight irregularities. These are not defects but show the uniqueness of your items.
